Seven of Disks

Seven disks like leaden coins hang on a dead and blighted plant against a dark ground.

Netzach, Victory, in Assiah, the world of action. Victory, the sphere of Venus: feeling, desire, art, the bliss and the instability of the emotions. Below Tiphareth the Tree is no longer balanced, and Netzach shows force without form. The Sevens are Netzach in the four worlds and tend to show the element degenerating.

Netzach in the world of Earth: matter below the balance point, force without form. Saturn in the last decan of Taurus is lead in the sign of fertility.

Saturn in the third decan of Taurus (20°–30°, about May 11–20). Saturn is time, limit, structure, old age and the boundary of the known. On the Tree it is Binah; among the trumps it is the Universe, where Saturn and Earth together seal the work.

Taurus is fixed Earth: the bull, endurance, fertility, pleasure in what lasts. Venus rules it and the Moon is exalted here. It is the kerubic sign of Earth, and its trump is the Hierophant. The trump of Taurus is The Hierophant.

This decan is ruled by the Knight of Swords, whose arc runs from 21° Taurus to 20° Gemini. The two Shem angels of the decan are Lauviah and Hahaiah.

Bliss: feeling, desire, the pleasure and the instability of the emotions. Netzach, Victory. The Sevens tend to show the element degenerating; the Chariot is trump VII.

Sensation exhausted; the material world unresponsive to effort. The Disks are usually read as the sensation function in Jung's typology, an interpretive convention rather than a text of Jung's.

Rider-Waite calls the suit Pentacles or Coins. Its small cards carry scenes; the Thoth small cards carry the suit emblems arranged geometrically, with the keyword printed at the bottom and the colours of their Sephirah and decan. The Golden Dawn title (Lord of Success Unfulfilled) is shared by both traditions.
