Six of Disks

Six disks bearing the planets are arranged in a hexagram around a rose-cross; the whole is balanced and radiant.

Tiphareth, Beauty, in Assiah, the world of action. Beauty, the centre of the Tree and the Son of the Name: self-conscious mind, the heart, the place where the light of the Crown is reflected in a balanced form. Tiphareth is the Sun. The Sixes are Tiphareth in the four worlds and are the most harmonious cards of each suit; the Princes belong here.

Tiphareth in the world of Earth: matter at the balanced centre, the hexagram. The Moon in the second decan of Taurus is exalted, and the harvest is full.

The Moon in the second decan of Taurus (10°–20°, about May 1–10). The Moon is reflection, tides, the fluctuating soul, memory and instinct. On the Tree it is Yesod, the Foundation; among the trumps it is the Priestess, who veils the light rather than shining it.

Taurus is fixed Earth: the bull, endurance, fertility, pleasure in what lasts. Venus rules it and the Moon is exalted here. It is the kerubic sign of Earth, and its trump is the Hierophant. The trump of Taurus is The Hierophant.

This decan is ruled by the Prince of Disks, whose arc runs from 21° Aries to 20° Taurus. The two Shem angels of the decan are Haziel and Aladiah.

Self-conscious mind: the hexagram, balance regained at a higher level, the heart. Tiphareth, Beauty. The Sixes are the most harmonious cards of each suit; the Lovers is trump VI.

Sensation fulfilled; the material world in harmony with its use. The Disks are usually read as the sensation function in Jung's typology, an interpretive convention rather than a text of Jung's.

Rider-Waite calls the suit Pentacles or Coins. Its small cards carry scenes; the Thoth small cards carry the suit emblems arranged geometrically, with the keyword printed at the bottom and the colours of their Sephirah and decan. The Golden Dawn title (Lord of Material Success) is shared by both traditions.
