The first decan of Sagittarius runs from 0°–10° of the sign, about Nov 23–Dec 2. Its ruler in the Chaldean order is Mercury, and its card is the Eight of Wands, which Crowley calls Swiftness and the Golden Dawn the Lord of Swiftness. The decan lies within the arc of the Knight of Wands (21° Scorpio to 20° Sagittarius). Its two angels of the Shem ha-Mephorash are Vehuel and Daniel.
