The Self
Archetype
The centre and the totality of the psyche, the archetype of wholeness, which Jung saw imaged in mandalas, in the sun, in the divine child and in the alchemical stone. It is the goal of individuation, never possessed, only approached. In the trumps it appears wherever the whole is shown at once.
Cards
The four functions map the suits rather than the trumps; see also the Fool's journey and active imagination.
