Anima and Animus
Archetype
The contrasexual figure of the inner life: the anima as the man's inner feminine, the animus as the woman's inner masculine, later read more broadly as the soul-image that mediates between ego and unconscious. In the tarot the feminine trumps and the court cards carry it most obviously.
