In the tarot the four letters are the four elements, the four suits, the four worlds and the four court ranks: Yod Fire and Knight, Heh Water and Queen, Vau Air and Prince, final Heh Earth and Princess. Adding Shin makes YHShVH, the Pentagrammaton, spirit entering the elements.
