Counting

Within the Opening of the Key, cards are read by counting from the significator in the direction it faces: trumps of the elements count 3, planetary trumps 9, zodiacal trumps 12, Aces 5, small cards their own number, Princesses 7 and the other courts 4. The count leads from card to card in a chain, and the chain is the reading.
